What I am doing

I am currently working with Blue Rooster as a Senior UX Designer for large-scale enterprise projects primarily on the SharePoint platform. Duties include interacting with clients on a regular basis, requirements gathering, envisioning, wireframes, flows, use cases, interaction design and visual design. Clients include some of the largest companies in the Pharmaceutical, Banking, Logistics and Oil & Gas industries (companies such as Biogen, Eli Lilly, Citi, FedEx, Port of Seattle & Chevron).

I am also currently enrolled in a Master's level User Centered Design certificate program at the University of Washington with plans to continue in the program to earn a Masters degree in Human Centered Design.

 

 

How I got here

Born and raised in Wyoming, I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art from the University of Wyoming. After graduation, my first job was that of an Art Director where I gained extensive experience producing graphics for postage stamps, coins as well as traditional print pieces.

A few years later, I moved West and have since been living and gainfully employed in Seattle, Washington.

Roles in Seattle included design, product photography, brand management and art direction. A quick learner and hard worker, I was able to advance to a position of Chief of Operations directing 50 full-time employees and 20 outside sales representatives while also overseeing the company's branding and marketing efforts.

Having a desire to re-focus efforts, I decided to pursue my passion for photography and opened a successful commercial photography studio in 2003. Along with shooting in Seattle, Washington; photography projects have taken me as far north as Kodiak Island, Alaska; south down the West Coast shooting in Oregon and throughout California; as well as in Idaho, South Dakota and Nevada.

In 2010, interesting design opportunities presented themselves to me and I accepted a full-time position shortly thereafter at Blue Rooster.

Where I learned to do what I do

I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Art from the University of Wyoming. I taught Graphic Design and Pre-Press Production at the Art Institute of Seattle for 2 years and most recently started Masters level courses at the University of Washington in the Human Centered Design program.
